What is Blanchard Grinding?
The word Blanchard is actually the name of the equipment that is used to perform the process of flat grinding. The Blanchard is a vertical surface grinder that is built of rigid construction, which allows good accuracy and production type repeatability. The Blanchard Grinder is a piece of equipment that Ferro-Ceramic Grinding readily uses on small prototype runs to full production runs.

What Materials can be Blanchard Ground?
Blanchard Grinding can be used on a broad range of materials. At Ferro-Ceramic Grinding we specialize in Diamond Machining, however with a simple wheel change metals can also be easily ground. The large majority of the materials which we Blanchard Grind at Ferro-Ceramic Grinding are in the ceramic family such as: Sapphire, Quartz, Alumina Oxide, Silicon Carbide, Zirconia and many of the new high temp high strength composites that are being developed today.
Ferro-Ceramic Grinding has incorporated the use of eight Blanchard Grinders with a variety of diamond wheels, incorporation specialized bond systems and has available diamond grit size ranging from 120 grit to 1200 grit. By changing the grit and bond Ferro-Ceramic Grinding can control surface finish, and flatness. The process has become a very important component to our customers finished parts. Ferro-Ceramic Grinding is proud of our 40 plus years of combined experience of our operators who continue to push the envelope of the Blanchard Grinding process.
